TAUPO: Comvita Limited (NZX:CVT) announced Monday the appointment of Karl Gradon as its new chief executive officer, effective Aug. 1.
Gradon brings extensive global leadership experience in the primary industry, including senior roles at Fonterra and Kerry Ingredients. After returning to New Zealand, he served as CEO of New Zealand Manuka Group, driving growth in manuka oil and honey products, including a North American expansion into Costco. Most recently, he led Miraka, a Māori-owned dairy company, through a major business transformation.
“His expertise in innovation, sustainable growth and international markets aligns with Comvita’s strategic objectives,” said Board Chair Bridget Coates.
Brett Hewlett will conclude his tenure as acting CEO on July 31 after stepping into the role in September 2024. Hewlett previously served as Comvita’s CEO from 2005 to 2015 and later as board chair before returning to stabilize the company amid restructuring and cost-cutting efforts.
“Brett’s leadership has been instrumental during a challenging period,” Coates said. Hewlett will remain in an advisory role through September to ensure a smooth transition.
Comvita, a producer of health and wellness products, specializes in manuka honey and natural remedies.
