EINDHOVEN: Signify (Euronext: LIGHT), the world’s leading lighting company, announced Wednesday that As Tempelman will become its new chief executive officer starting Sept. 1, pending his appointment to the Board of Management. Current CEO Željko Kosanović will remain interim leader until then.

“We are thrilled to appoint As Tempelman as CEO of Signify,” said Gerard van de Aast, chair of the company’s Supervisory Board. “His strategic vision, energy and proven track record in driving sustainable growth, while building an inclusive high-performance culture, made him the clear choice to lead the company forward.”

Tempelman, currently CEO of Dutch sustainable energy company Eneco, expressed enthusiasm for his new role. “With more than 130 years of history, Signify has always been a pioneer,” he said. “The innovation, passion, and purpose that define this company are incredible, and that’s what drew me here.”

He added that he sees “a real opportunity to grow, build on existing strengths, unlock new possibilities, and continue to lead the way in lighting and beyond, improving lives for people and communities around the world.”

At Eneco, Tempelman oversaw operations in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and the U.K., tripling profitability since 2020 while cutting greenhouse gas emissions by 40% annually. Before joining Eneco, he held senior leadership roles at Shell across Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Signify, formerly Philips Lighting, employs about 30,000 people in over 70 countries.
