A new leak suggests Apple could be gearing up to release the next generation of AirPods Pro earbuds.
According to a report by 9to5Mac, code shared on X this week by Apple analyst Aaron Perris indicates the company is working on a third iteration of its premium wireless earbuds. The code snippet references “AirPods Pro 2 or later,” hinting at an upcoming model.
Mashable has not independently verified the screenshot, but the timing aligns with expectations for an update. The AirPods Pro 2 launched in 2022, with a USB-C version following in 2023. Despite their age, the Pro model remains highly rated among wireless earbuds.
Apple fans speculate the AirPods Pro 3 could debut at June’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), though the company has historically announced new Pro models in the fall. While an early reveal is possible, Apple typically sticks to its product cycles.
The code suggests development is underway, but Apple has not confirmed any details. The company declined to comment.
