SEDGEFIELD: Filtronic plc (AIM: FTC), a specialist in aerospace and defense technologies, has secured a contract to develop and supply advanced filter and diplexer assemblies to Airbus Defence and Space for its latest satellite production for Eutelsat OneWeb.
The deal will see Filtronic deliver flight sets for payload integration in 2026, supporting Eutelsat OneWeb’s expansion of its Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite constellation. The contract marks a significant initial investment, with potential for continued orders as the constellation rollout progresses.
Filtronic will produce the assemblies at its Sedgefield facility, overseeing qualification to meet space environment specifications.
Airbus satellites play a key role in Eutelsat OneWeb’s mission to provide global broadband connectivity. The company—formed through the 2023 merger of Eutelsat Communications and OneWeb—is the first operator to integrate geostationary and LEO satellite technologies.
The project extends a partnership between Airbus and Eutelsat OneWeb, which has already placed more than 600 satellites in orbit. The next production phase adds 100 new satellites to the growing constellation.
“This contract aligns with our strategy to expand our presence in the space sector and integrate more of our technology into operational satellite payloads,” said Filtronic CEO Nat Edington.
“Winning our second contract with a European space provider underscores our role in this high-growth market and broadens our customer base.”
