OTTAWA: Calian Group Ltd. (TSX: CGY) has acquired Advanced Medical Solutions (AMS), a leading provider of remote and emergency healthcare services in Northern Canada. The acquisition, effective immediately, strengthens Calian’s ability to deliver integrated healthcare solutions across Canada’s northern regions.
AMS, headquartered in Yellowknife, specializes in 24/7 operational and medical support across the Northwest Territories, Yukon, Nunavut, and northern provinces. Founded in 1995, AMS employs more than 300 frontline medical personnel and is the exclusive provider of air ambulance services and emergency medical evacuation in the Northwest Territories, conducting over 2,000 air and ground missions annually.
“AMS is a critical provider of healthcare in Canada’s northern communities,” said Kevin Ford, CEO of Calian. “Together, we will enhance healthcare accessibility while aligning with Canada’s strategy and upcoming federal investments in the Arctic region.”
The acquisition allows Calian to expand its service offerings, diversify its customer base, and deepen partnerships with Indigenous communities. AMS will operate as Advanced Medical Solutions, a Calian Company, during a transition period before becoming Calian Advanced Medical Solutions Ltd. within a year.
“This partnership ensures continuity of care in some of Canada’s most underserved communities,” said Derek Clark, President, Health, Calian. “Combining AMS’s paramedical expertise with Calian’s capabilities in health service delivery and digital health will improve operational performance and provide a full continuum of care.”
The acquisition aligns with Calian’s strategic growth priorities and Canada’s evolving defense commitments in the North. The company aims to integrate AMS seamlessly while maintaining strong relationships with Indigenous partners and local governments.
