MONTEVIDEO: ATIS Group, a leading digital infrastructure provider in Latin America, announced Thursday that it has signed an agreement to acquire Lati Paraguay, a Millicom subsidiary that owns about 300 wireless communication towers in Paraguay.
The deal, signed April 26, is part of ATIS’s continued expansion in the Southern Cone and strengthens its position as the region’s premier independent tower company.
As part of the agreement, ATIS and Tigo Paraguay have entered into a long-term leaseback arrangement, ensuring continued support for Tigo Paraguay’s mobile network operations. The final number of towers covered under the lease will be determined at closing, which is expected soon.
“ATIS seeks to develop, own and operate best-in-class mission-critical assets such as wireless telecommunications towers,” said Juan Pablo Blanco, CEO of ATIS Group. “This acquisition—along with prior ones from Telefónica Uruguay and SBA in Argentina—reinforces ATIS’ commitment to the region.”
Since Towerco Investments LLC’s majority acquisition in 2022, ATIS has expanded from managing 185 sites in Argentina to operating more than 1,000 sites across Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay. The addition of Lati Paraguay marks the next phase in ATIS’s push for future-ready infrastructure to meet the region’s growing connectivity needs.
