NEW DELHI: Amazon unveiled the latest edition of its Kindle Paperwhite in India on Wednesday, boasting faster performance and enhanced display features.
The U.S.-based tech giant claims the new Kindle Paperwhite offers 25% quicker page turns, improving the reading experience. The device features a 7-inch waterproof display with a 300 ppi resolution, utilizing an oxide thin-film transistor for higher contrast.
Amazon says the new model also improves keyword touch response, making navigation smoother for users. The e-reader includes an adjustable warm light and dark mode for customization, while the company estimates battery life at up to 12 weeks on a single charge.
Storage capacity has increased to 16GB, allowing users to keep a vast collection of books on their device. Additional features such as X-Ray—providing insights into characters and locations—and a built-in dictionary for quick word lookups further enhance usability. The Word Wise tool offers simplified definitions above difficult words to assist readers in learning new languages.
Amazon’s Kindle platform provides access to over 1.5 crore titles across various genres, including eBooks in Hindi, Tamil, and Marathi. Kindle Unlimited subscribers gain access to more than 20 lakh eBooks, while Amazon Prime members can browse a rotating catalog of select titles at no extra cost.
With its latest upgrade, Amazon continues to expand its digital reading offerings to cater to a diverse audience.
