BRISBANE: Savannah Goldfields Limited (ASX: SVG) announced Tuesday the appointment of mining veteran Brad Sampson as its new chief executive officer.
Sampson brings more than 30 years of international mining experience, including previous CEO roles at ASX-listed Discovery Metals Ltd and Kore Potash Ltd. He also held senior positions at Newcrest Mining Ltd, where he served as chief transformation officer.
“Brad brings a wealth of international and diversified mining experience,” said Stephen Bizzell, chairman of Savannah Goldfields. “He is well positioned to drive the company forward as we prepare to restart mining operations and expand our gold resource base.”
Sampson, who holds a mining engineering degree from the University of Queensland and an MBA from Deakin University, has been advising the company in recent months.
“Savannah has significant potential for shareholder value creation,” Sampson said. “I look forward to working with the team to resume operations and grow gold production at our Agate Creek and Georgetown projects.”
The company aims to restart mining operations in the near term while developing its exploration portfolio.
