Bending Spoons acquires Germany’s komoot

Bending Spoons, a technology company, announced the acquisition of komoot, a Germany-based route-planning platform for outdoor enthusiasts. Komoot, founded 17 years ago, has grown to 45 million users and is Europe’s leading outdoor platform.

CEO Markus Hallermann praised Bending Spoons’ expertise in scaling platforms, calling it the ideal partner for komoot’s next phase of growth.

Luca Ferrari, CEO of Bending Spoons, expressed confidence in komoot’s future, emphasizing the benefits of combining their platform technologies with komoot’s achievements. Advisors for the deal included Perella Weinberg Partners, Osborne Clarke, Freshfields, and EY Advisory, with support from investors such as KRW Schindler and Liquid Partners.

Bending Spoons’ suite of digital technology businesses, includes Brightcove, Evernote, Meetup, Remini, StreamYard, and WeTransfer.
