Pandion Optimization Alliance, a national Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) with a century-long history of delivering cost savings and value to its members, has acquired Blackmaple Group, LLC (BMG), a leading purchasing organization specializing in independent physician practices and women’s healthcare.

The acquisition solidifies Pandion’s position as the premier GPO for women’s health providers in the United States, enhancing its ability to deliver significant savings and services to healthcare organizations nationwide.

“Blackmaple Group has built a powerful network of providers deeply committed to improving healthcare, particularly in women’s health,” said Travis Heider, President and CEO of Pandion Optimization Alliance. “By joining forces, we are not only expanding our national footprint but also reinforcing our commitment to providing healthcare organizations with greater purchasing power, optimized supply chains, and access to top-tier medical and surgical products at competitive prices.”

Founded 12 years ago, BMG has focused on helping independent practices streamline business operations and introducing innovative approaches to clinical settings, especially in women’s health. Dr. Jeff Gold, founder and CEO of BMG, emphasized the organization’s achievements: “We’ve created a massive aggregation pool and brought exceptional customer service and data analysis to our members. This partnership with Pandion ensures our members will benefit from even greater resources and support.”

The acquisition will integrate BMG’s 17,000 members into Pandion’s existing network of over 40,000 members. These new members will gain immediate access to Pandion’s extensive portfolio of contracts, leveraging billions in purchasing power to drive additional value. The partnership ensures continued access to cost-saving opportunities and an expanded selection of high-quality products and services for healthcare providers.

A Strategic Move for Growth and Expertise

This acquisition marks a significant milestone in Pandion’s ongoing evolution. With a 100-year history, Pandion has consistently expanded its market presence through strategic partnerships and acquisitions. In 2024 alone, the organization achieved $1.9 billion in purchasing volume, with a goal to surpass $3 billion by 2027. By incorporating BMG’s expertise in women’s health and beyond, Pandion aims to provide tailored purchasing solutions that support specialty providers and ensure long-term financial and operational success for its members.

“This acquisition isn’t just about expanding our network—it’s about strengthening the foundation of healthcare providers across the country,” Heider said. “By aligning BMG’s deep industry knowledge with Pandion’s national scale and purchasing power, we are creating a powerful force for better healthcare economics.”

BMG members will experience a seamless transition, maintaining access to the contracts and savings they rely on while benefiting from enhanced services and new cost-reduction opportunities. BMG’s established partnerships with industry leaders such as Medline Industries, GE, Abbvie, Samsung, and CooperSurgical will remain intact.

“As far as our collaborators and customers are concerned, very little will change,” said Marc Cooper, President and COO of BMG. “Members will have the same model, only with the buying power and support of a much larger organization and an even more robust portfolio.”

Pandion has long championed the power of collaboration, helping members save money, optimize procurement, and build sustainable supply chains for over a century. This acquisition reinforces the organization’s commitment to creating a sense of belonging among healthcare providers, uniting them in a movement toward smarter, more efficient purchasing.

As Pandion enters its next century, the organization remains dedicated to driving innovation, fostering partnerships, and delivering best-in-class purchasing solutions that empower healthcare providers to focus on what matters most—patient care.
