NAES & Gecko secure $100M deal to revolutionize American power grid with AI & Robotics

NAES, the largest independent power operator in the U.S., and Gecko Robotics have formed a strategic partnership to enhance the reliability and operational efficiency of American power production.
The announcement follows President Trump’s declaration of a national energy emergency on January 20th.
The initial multi-year agreement, valued at over $100 million, includes an option to extend the deal beyond $250 million as demand increases. The collaboration aims to modernize power plants to address America’s energy crisis.
The partnership will leverage NAES and Gecko’s combined strengths in robotics, AI-driven platforms, and operational excellence in the energy sector. As the U.S. faces a 16% increase in national energy demand over the next four years, the agreement will focus on improving the use of advanced technology in both thermal and renewable energy facilities. Data center power demand alone is projected to grow by 160% by 2030.
Gecko’s AI-powered software platform, Cantilever®, and its wall-climbing robots, drones, robot dogs, and fixed sensors will collect data on critical infrastructure. This will enable power production facilities to optimize performance, reduce unexpected downtime, and enhance asset reliability.
Jake Loosararian, Co-founder and CEO of Gecko Robotics, emphasized the importance of innovation in addressing the energy crisis. “We’re proud to partner with NAES and bolster the U.S.’ energy security at some of our most critical power facilities using what America does better than anyone – innovation!” he said.
Mark Dobler, President and CEO of NAES, highlighted the growing energy demand and the need for technology to support workforce and infrastructure. “Every kilowatt counts. By partnering with Gecko, we can demonstrate the advantage that can be gained when turning to innovation and technology,” Dobler said.
Governor Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania praised the partnership, noting its potential to position the Commonwealth as a national energy leader. “By coming together around an energy strategy, we can support groundbreaking projects like this, lower costs for consumers, create more jobs, and build a more reliable, affordable energy grid,” Shapiro said.
The partnership also aims to attract top talent to the power industry, which faces challenges in retaining skilled workers. By embracing cutting-edge technologies, NAES and Gecko hope to make the power industry more appealing to new talent.
NAES manages the second-largest fleet of power generation assets in the U.S. Gecko’s AI-driven platform and robotic technology have been shown to reduce reactive maintenance by 80% and double the lifespan of assets.
The historic partnership is expected to support the reliability of infrastructure managed by NAES as demands for power production and the professionals who operate them continue to grow over the next decade.
