CTP launches €57 million project for Hitachi Energy in the Czech Republic

BRNO: CTP, Europe’s largest listed developer, owner, and manager of industrial and logistics properties by gross lettable area (GLA), has embarked on an ambitious project for its long-time partner, Hitachi Energy, at CTPark Brno.
The first phase of this project involves a €57 million investment in constructing a 50,000 square meter state-of-the-art high-voltage products factory, expected to yield a return on cost (YoC) exceeding 10%.
The factory, dedicated to manufacturing gas-insulated lines (GIL) and components for gas-insulated switchgear (GIS), will feature new advanced production technologies. These include a modern welding shop using highly reliable friction stir welding technology, a unique robotized powder coating facility, and a new service center.
The facilities will be tailored to meet Hitachi Energy’s specific needs, adhering to the highest quality standards for manufacturing processes. Additionally, automatic systems for temperature, lighting, and humidity control will ensure comfortable working conditions. The project is projected to create approximately 200 jobs, and a notable feature is the underground car park directly beneath the hall, enhancing convenience and accessibility for employees.
Designed with a focus on sustainability and energy efficiency, the production building will be equipped with heat pumps and solar panels. CTP aims to achieve the prestigious BREEAM Outstanding certification, signifying the project’s high environmental standards.
Following this project, CTP plans to develop an adjacent campus to provide new opportunities for employees and attract visitors to the park. The campus will include offices, residences, a café, and other services, fostering community collaboration and offering a pleasant work and recreation environment. Flexible multi-functional CTBox units will cater to showrooms, administrative, warehouse, and production spaces.
Hitachi Energy, a global technology leader in power and automation, has been partnering with CTP since 2014. The company initially leased 15,000 square meters and has since expanded its activities and capacities within CTP’s premises. The Brno factory will manufacture eco-efficient EconiQ products, eliminating the use of sulfur hexafluoride (SF6), a potent greenhouse gas, from high-voltage equipment.
“Our factory in Brno exemplifies our commitment to expanding global capacity to meet the accelerating demand for clean energy,” said Pavel Kovář, Country Managing Director of Hitachi Energy for the Czech Republic and Slovakia. “Our investment of over 1.1 billion CZK will increase production capacity and address the growing demand for sustainable energy solutions.”
“We are very pleased to deliver this ambitious project for our long-standing partner, Hitachi Energy,” said Michal Dospěl, Regional Construction Director of CTP. “This high-tech facility at CTPark Brno is an example of our commitment to sustainability and innovation. We believe the project will contribute to the further development of our park and provide our clients and employees with a state-of-the-art working environment and support for their growth and development.”
