Arajet launches U.S. operations with flights to San Juan and Miami

SANTO DOMINGO: Arajet, the flagship airline of the Dominican Republic, has launched its United States operations with flights connecting the Dominican Republic to Miami and San Juan, Puerto Rico. New York flights are expected to commence soon.
Tickets for flights to 25 destinations are now available, with one-way fares starting at $84. The airline will begin its Miami service on April 11 and its San Juan service on June 5.
“Arajet is excited to welcome American tourists and the diaspora community with low fares to the Dominican Republic and more than 20 exciting destinations,” said Victor Pacheco, CEO and founder of Arajet.
“Miami, San Juan, and coming soon New York represent strong tourism markets, and beginning U.S. operations with flights from these cities is the next step towards realizing our vision of the DR as a new travel hub of the continent.”
As the first low-fare airline in the Caribbean region, Arajet aims to make travel more accessible for tourists and the 2.4 million Dominican diaspora community. In just two years of operations, Arajet has increased local tourism and flown more than 1.2 million passengers in 2024 with an 80% average on-time arrival rate.
The new U.S. routes mark a significant milestone for the airline, now serving 26 destinations across 17 countries.
The new routes will offer direct flights from Miami International Airport (MIA) and San Juan Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU) to Santo Domingo, Las Américas International Airport (SDQ), four times a week. Additionally, Miami travelers can fly direct to Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) six times a week.
From the Dominican Republic, passengers can easily connect to several destinations, including Aruba, Bogotá, Medellín, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Cancún, Mexico City, and Curaçao.
“Arajet’s operations between the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico represent an estimated economic impact of about $10.4 million and will boost the arrival of more international visitors, adding approximately 58,000 additional seats to the current market inventory,” said Puerto Rico’s Governor González Colón.
“For the Government of Puerto Rico, it is a priority to support all airlines that help strengthen the island’s air connectivity and improve market competitiveness, and we are determined to continue working hand in hand with the Dominican Republic to exponentially grow our tourism together.”
