Orion Minerals names Kevin Moxham as new COO

SYDNEY: Orion Minerals Limited (ASX/JSE: ORN) announced the appointment of Kevin Moxham as its new Chief Operating Officer, effective from February 10, 2025. Moxham’s appointment marks a critical juncture for the company, as it gears up to transition from exploration to mine development in South Africa’s Northern Cape region.

Moxham brings 40 years of experience in mining, engineering, and project management to Orion, with a proven track record of modernizing and mechanizing mines in challenging environments across Africa. His extensive expertise includes managing base metal mining operations, driving operational excellence, and maintaining an exceptional health and safety record.

Orion’s Managing Director and CEO, Errol Smart, expressed enthusiasm about Moxham’s appointment: “We are excited to have Kevin join the Orion team as we move into the mine development phase. With the completion of the Feasibility Studies for both PCZM and Okiep imminent, we need to ensure we have the right people in place to deliver on the construction and operational ramp-up of both projects. Moxham, who has previously held executive roles at the Bisha Mining Share Company in Eritrea and the Khoemacau Copper Mine in Botswana, is eager to bring his expertise to Orion: “Orion’s intended development of both PCZM and Okiep presents a wonderful opportunity to deliver modern and highly efficient mechanized underground mines. I look forward to applying my experience derived from working in remote destinations where we developed local recruits into top-class mine operational teams. As Orion nears the completion of its Definitive Feasibility Studies, Moxham’s leadership is expected to play a pivotal role in the company’s transition to becoming a mine developer.
