SYDNEY: Metcash Limited (ASX:MTS) today announced the appointment of Scott Marshall as CEO of the Independent Hardware Group (IHG).
Scott has an extensive understanding of Metcash’s businesses and a strong track record serving independents, having spent more than 30 years with the Company. He previously held several senior executive positions with Metcash including CEO of the Food pillar and, prior to that, CEO of the Liquor pillar.
Most recently, Scott held the position of CEO Australia and New Zealand with The Reece Group focussed on the residential, commercial and infrastructure building sectors.
Today’s announcement follows the completion of an executive search process that commenced after earlier advice from Annette Welsh that she intended stepping down as CEO after five years in the role.
Group CEO, Doug Jones said: “Scott‘s deep experience with Metcash, his demonstrated passion for independents, and track record of success ideally positions him to lead IHG through its next growth phase.
His time with Reece has added experience in the trade and building sectors, and we are pleased to have him back with us.
I would like to thank Geoff Harris for stepping up to lead the business during our search process. His professionalism and leadership have been vital through this period and are deserving of recognition.
The external conditions for the trade market have continued to be challenging, however the business‘ leading position with small to medium size builders ensures it is ideally placed to capitalise on an improvement in activity levels.”
Scott rejoins Metcash and commences in the new role on 20 November 2024.
