CALGARY, Alberta: Energy Safety Canada, the premier safety association for the nation’s energy sector, has announced Vineeta Maguire as its incoming President and Chief Executive Officer, effective June 11, 2024. Maguire is set to take over from Murray Elliott, who will be retiring after a commendable seven-year tenure.
With a rich career spanning over three decades, Maguire is celebrated for her extensive operational expertise within the energy industry. Her leadership has been pivotal in integrating safety and efficiency across various disciplines, significantly transforming supply chain operations.
Elliott, who has been at the helm since September 2017, leaves behind a legacy of visionary leadership that has propelled Energy Safety Canada to global prominence. His strategic direction has been instrumental in shaping the organization’s international reputation.

Maguire’s executive experience spans both domestic and international landscapes, where she has led transformative strategies, particularly in North American operations and supply chains. Her tenure as Vice President of Ovintiv’s Canadian Operations showcased her exceptional leadership, managing a team of over a thousand, encompassing a wide range of operational functions.
Currently serving on the Board of Directors for Whitecap Resources Inc., Maguire is also a respected advisor and mentor at the University of Calgary’s Haskayne School of Business and Schulich School of Engineering. Her leadership has been acknowledged with several accolades, including the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee 2023 Medal for volunteer service and the 2020 STEP Award from the North American Manufacturing Institute.
