Wipro Limited, a global leader in technology services and consulting, has announced the immediate appointment of Vinay Firake as the new Chief Executive Officer for its APMEA (Asia Pacific, India, Middle East & Africa) Strategic Market Unit. Firake, a Wipro veteran of 26 years, will also serve on the Wipro Executive Board.
Firake’s tenure at Wipro has seen him in various leadership capacities, including his recent role as Senior Vice President and Managing Director of the Nordics Business Unit. His experience spans across continents, having led the Manufacturing & Automotive Business Unit in Europe and serving as the Global Head for Enterprise Digital Operations & Platforms, as well as the Sales Head for Enterprise Applications in Europe.
Srini Pallia, CEO and Managing Director of Wipro Limited, praised Firake’s global leadership and expressed confidence in his ability to drive growth in the APMEA region, citing his successful track record and client acquisitions in the Nordics.
Vinay Firake expressed his honor in leading the APMEA unit, emphasizing his commitment to innovation and expansion in the region. He holds an MBA specializing in Finance and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, with executive education from Wharton and Harvard Business Schools.
Firake succeeds Anis Chenchah, who will be stepping down after a transitional period ending May 31, 2024. Firake will be based in Dubai as he takes on his new role.
