Tight gas discovery in Sindh, Pakistan by OGDCL

In a significant development for Pakistan’s energy sector, the Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has announced a new tight gas discovery at its exploratory well, Nur West #01, in the district of Sujawal, Sindh Province.

The well, which is fully operated by OGDCL, is part of the Nur Development & Production Lease (D&PL) and has shown promising results.

The exploratory efforts reached a depth of 2975 meters, utilizing OGDCL’s in-house expertise. The well’s output was measured at 1.24 Million Standard Cubic Feet per Day (MMSCFD) of gas. This flow was achieved through a 32/64″ choke at a wellhead pressure of 150 Pounds per Square Inch (PSI), emanating from the Lower Goru Formation’s ‘A’ Sand.

The gas discovered is currently classified as Tight Gas, indicating that it may require advanced extraction techniques.

This discovery is a testament to OGDCL’s strategic exploration initiatives and is expected to open new paths for increasing the hydrocarbon reserves of both the company and the nation. OGDCL has expressed its commitment to the country’s energy enhancement by accelerating the implementation of its tight gas exploration program. This discovery not only boosts OGDCL’s portfolio but also represents a step forward in securing Pakistan’s energy future.
