Aramco partners with GCT Semiconductor for 5G development in Saudi Arabia

In a move to advance Saudi Arabia’s 4G and 5G infrastructure, Aramco has entered into a strategic partnership with GCT Semiconductor Holding Inc., a prominent player in the 5G and 4G semiconductor arena.

The Memorandum of Understanding paves the way for the two companies to collaborate on designing and developing chipsets and modules optimized for LTE, 5G, and the NTN spectrum. This initiative is expected to catalyze the localization of wireless device and IoT manufacturing across the Kingdom.

John Schlaefer, CEO of GCT, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, highlighting the opportunity to integrate GCT’s advanced 4G and 5G technology and AI-driven modem features to bolster the local ecosystem. He emphasized the potential for enhanced communication solutions in Saudi Arabia and the surrounding region.

GCT’s expertise as a fabless designer and supplier of cutting-edge semiconductor solutions has been instrumental in delivering robust 4G LTE connectivity to a wide array of commercial devices worldwide.
