Zapier, the leading workflow automation platform for small and midsized businesses (SMBs), has acquired the team behind Vowel, an AI-powered video conferencing tool. The deal will help Zapier enhance its AI automation capabilities and launch its new product, Zapier Central.
Zapier Central is a new AI workspace where customers can build, teach, and work with AI bots to handle tasks across 6,000+ apps. The product aims to democratize AI and automation for businesses of all sizes and technical levels.
Zapier’s SVP of New Products and Head of Strategy, Sheryl Soo, said: “The acquisition of Vowel furthers our mission of bringing AI and automation to everyone. With our New Products division, we’re launching products that help put the power of AI and automation into the hands of everyone—from builders to non-technical employees, and from enterprise brands to SMBs.”
Andrew Berman, the former CEO of Vowel and the new Director of AI at Zapier, said: “We were customers of Zapier, using them as our integration layer, and envisioned Vowel evolving into an AI command center for companies. It was then that we connected with the Zapier team and saw the intersections with what they wanted to launch.”
Zapier Central is available today in public preview. Over 388,000 Zapier customers are already using Zapier’s various AI products and integrations to delegate more than 50 million tasks to automation. Zapier believes AI and automation will transform the way organizations operate and help them scale faster than before.
