Newsweek, the global digital news organization, has appointed Danielle Varvaro as its new Head of Advertising Sales. Varvaro will report to Kevin Gentzel, Global Chief Commercial and Growth Officer of Newsweek, and lead the US sales team.
Danielle Varvaro joins Newsweek from The Messenger, a new news outlet where she drove ad revenue. She has over 20 years of experience in media and advertising, working with companies such as Group Nine Media, Vice Media, CBS Interactive, Microsoft, and Sony BMG.
At Newsweek, Varvaro will oversee all sales revenue streams and lead a team that will accelerate the growth and scale of Newsweek through various platforms, including programmatic, native, video, print, and event.
Gentzel praised Varvaro’s experience and leadership, saying that she will help Newsweek forge long-term relationships with brands and reshape the future of media advertising. Varvaro expressed her honor and eagerness to work with Newsweek, one of the most recognizable names in media, and deliver value to its clients and readers.
