OGDCL announces major gas-condensate discovery in Sindh

LONDON: The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), the largest exploration and production company in Pakistan, has made a significant discovery of gas-condensate in the Khewari Block, located in District Khairpur, Sindh Province.

According to a company announcement to London Stock Exchange, the discovery was made at the Kharo-1 well, which was drilled to a depth of 3,762 meters using OGDCL’s own expertise. The well tested 14.3 MMSCFD of gas and 93 bbls/d of condensate from the Lower Goru Formation, a prolific hydrocarbon-bearing zone in the region.

The discovery is a result of the diligent and strategic exploration approach adopted by OGDCL, which holds a 95% working interest in the Khewari Block, with GHPL (Government Holdings Private Limited) as a joint venture partner holding a 5% working interest.

The discovery has the potential to significantly enhance the hydrocarbon reserves of OGDCL and its joint venture partners, and ultimately contribute to the national energy resources of the Country. OGDCL is committed to exploring and developing new oil and gas resources for the benefit of the nation.
