Ocean Aero and Saudi partners launch maritime drone technology

Ocean Aero, a leading developer of autonomous underwater and surface vehicles (AUSVs), has teamed up with INTRA Defense Technologies and MEMR, two prominent Saudi companies, to bring disruptive maritime technology to the region.

The partnership, facilitated by Lockheed Martin, will leverage Ocean Aero’s Triton AUSV, the world’s first and only AUSV, to address a variety of maritime challenges and opportunities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The Triton AUSV is a versatile and adaptable platform that can operate both above and below the water surface, enabling a wide range of applications in defense, offshore oil and gas, and environmental sectors. The vehicle can perform tasks such as sonar mapping, loitering munitions, ISR, security monitoring, mine countermeasures, anti-submarine warfare, reef monitoring, water chemistry testing, illegal fishing interdiction, and more.

The partnership aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 initiative, which aims to diversify the economy, create jobs, and transfer technology. By introducing and implementing the Triton AUSV in the region, the alliance will demonstrate the Kingdom’s technological leadership and contribute to sustainable economic growth.

With INTRA and MEMR’s expertise, we are well positioned to drive forward our unique autonomous maritime technology in the Kingdom in service of organizations like RSNF, ARAMCO, NEOM, and others. We now have the basis to grow a local industry tailored to the needs of Saudi Arabia.” — Kevin Decker, CEO of Ocean Aero

“This revolutionary technology promises to reshape the Saudi Arabian maritime industry and contribute substantially to the Kingdom’s 2030 goals. Our collaboration marks a combined commitment to advancing state-of-the-art solutions that align seamlessly with supporting national security, regional defense, and environmental sustainability programs.” — Dr. Hamad Alfouzan, CEO of INTRA Defense Technologies.
