Bruker Corporation, a leading provider of scientific instruments and solutions, has announced the acquisition of Spectral Instruments Imaging LLC (SII), a pioneer in preclinical in-vivo optical imaging systems.
The deal will enhance Bruker’s portfolio of preclinical solutions for disease research, adding SII’s advanced bioluminescence, fluorescence, and X-ray imaging technologies.
SII, founded in 2009 in Tucson, Arizona, offers high-performance imaging systems that are designed for superior sensitivity, quantification, flexibility, and ease of use. SII’s Lago X system is ideal for high-volume in-vivo imaging research, while its AMI HTX system allows for benchtop imaging with multiple modalities. SII’s Aura software enables a seamless workflow for increased productivity.
Keith Copeland, the CEO of SII, said that joining Bruker represents a significant milestone in their history, and that they are excited to help their customers benefit from different preclinical imaging modalities to better understand biological disease processes in vivo.
Dr. Wulf-Ingo Jung, President of Bruker’s Preclinical Imaging division, welcomed the talented SII team and said that their systems complement Bruker’s portfolio to serve the diverse needs of their preclinical customers. He also expressed Bruker’s commitment to fostering strong collaborations with their customers for advanced preclinical in vivo disease research.
The financial details of the transaction were not disclosed. SII generated revenues of over $10 million and was profitable in 2023.
