KARACHI: Engro Corporation, a leading Pakistani business group, has named Ahsan Zafar Syed as its next President & CEO, effective from May 2024. He will succeed Ghias Khan, who has led the company since 2017 and achieved remarkable growth and diversification.
Ahsan Zafar Syed is a veteran of Engro, having joined the company in 1991 as an engineer. He has held various leadership roles in Engro’s fertilizer, energy, and mining businesses, and is currently the CEO of Engro Fertilizers. He has been instrumental in developing Engro’s flagship projects, such as the world’s second-largest single train urea plant and the country’s largest coal reserves in Thar.
The Board of Engro Corporation expressed its appreciation for Ghias’s contributions and welcomed Ahsan as the new leader. Engro Corporation is one of the most valuable and awarded companies on the Pakistan Stock Exchange, with interests in fertilizers, energy, LNG, telecommunications, and regional trade.
