OnePlus is known for making flagship phones at affordable prices, and the latest OnePlus 12 and 12R are no exception. These phones were launched in December, but they are finally coming to the US and Canada in February. Here’s what you need to know about them.
OnePlus Fold rumored to feature massive 7.8-inch display and premium design
OnePlus 12: A premium phone for $800
The OnePlus 12 is a 6.82-inch phone with a curved 120 Hz OLED screen, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, and a whopping 5400 mAh battery. It also supports super fast charging, both wired and wireless.
The phone can go from 1 percent to 100 percent in just 30 minutes with the 80 W charger in the US, or the 100 W charger internationally. The wireless charger can deliver 50 W of power, which is faster than some wired chargers.
The phone has a quad-camera setup, with a 64 MP main camera, a 16 MP ultra-wide camera, a 12 MP telephoto camera, and a 5 MP macro camera.
The front camera is a 32 MP selfie shooter. The phone can record 8K video at 30 fps, or 4K video at 120 fps. The phone also has stereo speakers, an in-screen fingerprint reader, NFC, and 5G support.
The OnePlus 12 comes in two variants: 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage for $800, or 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage for $900. The colors available are black and green. The only downside is that the phone has an IP65 rating, which means it can withstand some splashes, but not full immersion in water.
OnePlus Nord 3: The Successor to OnePlus’ Mid-Range Lineup on the Horizon
OnePlus 12R: A budget phone for $500
The OnePlus 12R is a 6.78-inch phone with a flat 120 Hz OLED screen, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, and an even bigger 5500 mAh battery. It also supports 80 W wired charging, but not wireless charging.
The phone has a triple-camera setup, with a 50 MP main camera, an 8 MP ultra-wide camera, and a 2 MP macro camera. The front camera is a 16 MP selfie shooter. The phone can record 4K video at 60 fps, or 1080p video at 240 fps. The phone also has stereo speakers, an in-screen fingerprint reader, NFC, and 5G support.
The OnePlus 12R comes in one variant: 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage for $500. The colors available are black and blue. The phone has an IP64 rating, which means it can only handle some light splashes, but not running water.
VERDICT
The OnePlus 12 and 12R are impressive phones that offer a lot of value for their price. They have great displays, fast performance, long battery life, and decent cameras. They are not perfect, though.
They lack water resistance, wireless charging (for the 12R), and some camera features. But if you are looking for a flagship phone that won’t break the bank, you might want to check them out. They will be available in the US and Canada starting from February 6 for the OnePlus 12, and February 13 for the OnePlus 12R.
