Manchester United, one of the world’s most popular and successful sports teams, has announced that Omar Berrada will be its new Chief Executive Officer. Berrada, who is currently the Chief Football Operations Officer for City Football Group, will join the club with a mission to restore its glory on the pitch.
The club said that Berrada’s appointment is the first step in a journey to put football and performance at the heart of everything they do. Omar Berrada has a wealth of football and commercial experience, having worked at top European clubs such as Barcelona. He also has a proven record of successful leadership and a passion to lead change across the club.
Manchester United’s ambition is to re-establish itself as a title-winning club, both in England and in Europe. The club expressed its pleasure that Omar Berrada will be joining them to help achieve that goal, and quoted the legendary manager Sir Matt Busby, who said that United fans want to see “the red flag flying high” at the summit of world football.
Berrada’s start date will be confirmed later, while Patrick Stewart will remain as interim CEO until then.
