Jackson House acquires Cameron Care to boost mental health residential services

Jackson House, a provider of residential mental health treatment in California, has acquired a majority stake in Cameron Care, a Portland-based residential treatment provider for adults with severe and persistent mental illness.

The deal, which was announced on Monday, will create a new entity called Cameron Care, LLC, with Corey Cameron, the owner of Cameron Care, Inc., continuing as the Executive Director.

The acquisition aims to elevate the quality and impact of mental health residential services in the community, by combining the expertise and resources of both providers, expanding the range of services offered at Cameron Care’s three facilities, and streamlining the operations to increase efficiency and support the recovery journey of those in their care.

Both Jackson House and Cameron Care share a commitment to advancing mental health care, delivering innovative solutions, and improving accessibility for individuals seeking support.

They also have a rich history of compassionate and personalized service, providing a comfortable, non-institutional, and home-like environment for their clients.

Jackson House, which operates seven residential mental health treatment facilities and one addiction and mental health outpatient treatment facility in California, plans to open its first privately developed 16-bed residential treatment facility in Clackamas County and first outpatient mental health clinic in North Portland in early 2024.

Cameron Care, which was founded by Jon and Gaye Cameron in 1979 and purchased by Geraldine and Corey Cameron in 2009, operates three residential treatment facilities serving adults with severe and persistent mental illness in Portland.

Jim Sechrist, President of Regional Operations for Jackson House remarked, “We are very excited to partner with such a well-established and respected provider as Cameron Care. Their reputation as a caring and compassionate member of the mental health residential system and the excellent work they do every day makes them the perfect partner for Jackson House’s culture of respect and innovative service delivery. This acquisition represents a significant first step for Jackson House toward our desire to help solve our state’s most pressing mental healthcare challenges.”

Corey Cameron, Owner and CEO of Cameron Care added, “We are excited to be partnering with Jackson House as they expand into our local market. Since Cameron Care began in 1979, our top priority has been to provide the best possible individualized residential treatment. As we begin our forty-fifth year, we have continued to grow our program in order to keep up with the increasing needs of the population we serve. This partnership will make a quality program even more efficient and improve our residents’ access to critical outpatient behavioral health services. It will also provide more opportunity for the professional growth of our employees. This step ensures that Cameron Care is on firm footing to remain a high-quality program for the next forty-five years.”
