Fans of the Grand Theft Auto series are eagerly awaiting the first glimpse of the next instalment, which will be shown in a trailer on 5 December at 1400 GMT, according to Rockstar Games.
The game developer announced the news on X, where its post has already received 26 million views in less than two hours.
However, the release date of the game itself remains a mystery, as Rockstar Games has not revealed any details about the gameplay, setting, or characters of GTA 6.
The trailer launch will mark the 25th anniversary of the company, which was founded in 1998 and has produced some of the most popular and influential video games of all time.
Among them are GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas, which will be available on Netflix’s gaming platform on 14 December, as part of a deal between Rockstar and the streaming giant.
GTA 6 will be the sixth main entry in the Grand Theft Auto series, which began in 1997 and has sold more than 285 million copies worldwide.
The last game, GTA 5, was released in 2013 and is the second best-selling video game ever behind Minecraft.
It has been re-released several times for different consoles and platforms, and has a thriving online multiplayer mode, GTA Online, which generates huge revenues for Rockstar.
The long wait for GTA 6 has fuelled countless rumours and speculations among fans and media, but the trailer will finally reveal some official information about the game.
Rockstar Games has not commented on the expected launch date of GTA 6, but some analysts predict it will not be before 2024.
