ASML to appoint Christophe Fouquet as new CEO

AMSTERDAM: ASML Holding NV, the world’s leading provider of lithography systems for the semiconductor industry, announced today that it plans to appoint Christophe Fouquet as its new President and Chief Executive Officer, effective from April 24, 2024.

Fouquet, who is currently ASML’s Chief Business Officer and a member of the Board of Management, will succeed Peter Wennink and Martin van den Brink, who will retire as Co-Presidents and CTO after leading the company for more than two decades.

Fouquet has been with ASML for 15 years, holding various roles in DUV, Applications, EUV and all ASML businesses. He has a deep understanding of ASML’s technology and the semiconductor industry ecosystem, as well as the right leadership qualities and culture fit, according to Nils Andersen, Chairman of the Supervisory Board. Andersen also expressed his gratitude and admiration for the immense contributions that Wennink and van den Brink have made to ASML’s success and innovation.

Wennink and van den Brink welcomed Fouquet’s appointment and said they will work closely with him to ensure a smooth transition for the company and all of its stakeholders. They also praised Fouquet’s collaboration and partnership skills, as well as his technologist background.

In addition, the Supervisory Board intends to appoint Jim Koonmen as Chief Customer Officer, a new position in ASML’s Board of Management, subject to notification of the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders on April 24, 2024. Koonmen joined ASML in 2007 through the acquisition of Brion, and has since served as the CEO of Cymer and the head of the Applications business line.

His appointment underscores ASML’s ambition to continuously increase its responsiveness to customer needs and to consistently deliver high-performance products and services.
