Accenture to buy Italian AI firm Ammagamma

Accenture, a global professional services company, has announced its plan to acquire Ammagamma, an Italy-based firm that specializes in AI and generative AI technologies. The deal is part of Accenture’s $3 billion investment to help clients transform their businesses through AI.

Ammagamma, founded in 2013, has a team of 90 AI experts with diverse backgrounds and skills. The firm aims to harness AI to improve the productivity and performance of Italian businesses and to explore the potential, implications and impact of this technology. Ammagamma will join Accenture’s Advanced Center for AI in Europe, a network of AI professionals.

The acquisition will also strengthen Accenture’s presence in Emilia-Romagna, a region that hosts key supply chains for the automotive and pharmaceutical sectors. Ammagamma has been working with leading companies in the energy, insurance, banking, utilities and media sectors, doubling its team and increasing its revenue since 2021.

Mauro Macchi, president and CEO of Accenture Italy, said that AI technology plays a key role in enabling businesses to strengthen their digital core and that Ammagamma marks a crucial investment in Italian excellence. Fabio Ferrari, president of Ammagamma, said that becoming part of Accenture is the best recognition for their human-centric approach and their vision of AI as applied mathematics that can bring positive impact to people, businesses and society.

The terms of the transaction have not been disclosed and the completion is subject to customary closing conditions.
