SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA: Viridis Mining and Minerals Ltd, a company focused on developing the Colossus Ionic Adsorption Clay Rare Earth Project in Brazil, has announced the appointment of Rafael Moreno as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective from January 15, 2024.
Mr Moreno is an experienced executive with a background in mining and petrochemical industries, having worked on major projects such as the Rincon Lithium Project in Argentina, the Barossa Project in Australia, and the Ichthys Project in Japan. He has expertise in project delivery, supply and commercial agreements, finance and marketing, and leading execution teams across the world.
Executive Chairman Agha Shahzad Pervez said that Mr Moreno’s skills and experience would be crucial for the rapid development of the Colossus Project, which is expected to produce high-grade rare earth elements using a low-cost and environmentally friendly extraction method.
Rafael Moreno holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical) degree with First Class Honours and a Bachelor of Science (Applied Chemistry) degree from Curtin University. He is currently the Chief Operating Officer of a lithium company with projects in Argentina and Nevada, USA.
