Suncorp Bank appoints Bruce Rush as new CEO amid sale to ANZ

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA: Suncorp Group has named Bruce Rush as the new CEO of Suncorp Bank, effective from 4 December 2023, subject to regulatory approvals. Mr Rush has been with Suncorp since 2010 and has held various senior roles, including Acting CEO and Executive General Manager Home Lending.

He has been instrumental in improving the Bank’s performance and customer service. Suncorp Group CEO Steve Johnston said Mr Rush was an experienced and valuable leader who would provide continuity and stability as the Bank prepares to be sold to ANZ.

Mr Rush said he was honoured to lead Suncorp Bank and would continue to deliver value for customers and brokers. He also said he supported the proposed sale to ANZ as a way to further strengthen the business.

“I am proud of the progress we have made over the past three years to deliver on our strategic plan and strengthen the Suncorp Bank business,” Mr Rush said.

“I also believe the opportunity to further strengthen our business through the proposed sale to ANZ is in the best interests of our customers, people and the broader community,” he said.

‘We have the full support of the Suncorp Group as the approvals process remains underway, and my focus will be on ensuring the team is equipped to continue delivering on the Bank’s operating plan during this time, and most importantly delivering great customer experiences every day.”
