Bark Social, a social club for dogs and dog lovers, has bought Barkhaus, a dog-friendly bar in Alexandria, Va. The new owners will keep the bar open for dogs and humans, but will also add new features such as trained staff, social events, liquor, and a boutique.
Barkhaus was founded in 2020 by Alex Benbassat and Justin LeGores, who chose Bark Social as their partner after looking for buyers.
Benbassat will remain as an operating partner at Bark Social. Bark Social’s co-founders, Luke Silverman and Charlene Lee, said that they are excited to grow their community and business in the Mid-Atlantic and West Coast regions. Bark Social plans to open more locations across the US.
