OSLO, NORWAY: ReFuels N.V., a leading supplier of renewable biomethane (Bio-CNG) for heavy goods vehicles (HGV), has announced that it is part of the HyHAUL project, which has received more than GBP 30 million from the UK Government to deploy hydrogen fuel cell trucks and infrastructure.
The HyHAUL project is led by Protium and Marubeni Europower Ltd and involves several partners from the hydrogen HGV value chain, including green hydrogen generation, logistics, refuelling and vehicle manufacturers.
ReFuels operates 12 public access stations in the UK under the CNG Fuels brand, offering low-carbon Bio-CNG to HGV fleets. The company plans to expand its network to 30-40 stations by end-2026 and include hydrogen and electricity as zero-emission fuels. The company’s vision is to drive HGV fleet emissions to zero.
The HyHAUL project will initially roll out 30 hydrogen fuel cell HGVs by 2026, mainly along the M4 corridor, with a further target of 300 vehicles by 2030. The project aims to test the viability and lifecycle of hydrogen as a fuel for HGVs.
