Amazon has announced the opening of two new delivery stations in Glastonbury and South Windsor, Connecticut, ahead of the holiday season. The facilities will create more than 250 jobs and expand Amazon’s logistics network in the state.
The Glastonbury site, which launched on August 30, 2023, is 105,000 square feet and located on National Drive. The South Windsor site, which launched on September 27, 2023, is 180,000 square feet and located on Ellington Road. Both sites will serve as the last stop before packages arrive at customers’ doorsteps.
The town managers of Glastonbury and South Windsor welcomed Amazon to their communities and expressed their hopes for a positive impact and a beneficial partnership. Amazon also said it was committed to being a good neighbor and engaging with the local neighborhoods.
The delivery stations will offer entrepreneurs the opportunity to build their own business delivering Amazon packages, as well as independent contractors the flexibility to be their own boss and create their own schedule delivering for Amazon Flex. In total, eight delivery service partners will operate out of the two sites.
Amazon said it was proud to continue investing and growing in Connecticut, where it has more than 15,000 full and part-time employees. The company also highlighted its new benefits for its workers, including a new emergency savings program, a financial assistance pilot program, health insurance, a 401(k) with company match, paid pregnancy/parental leave, and mental health and financial services.
