Uber, the ride-hailing giant, has reached a milestone in the UK, with over 100,000 drivers on its platform and an estimated £5 billion in economic value generated by its activity.
The company revealed the figures in a report by Public First, which analysed the impact of Uber on the UK’s transport system and economy.
The report found that Uber provides safe, reliable and affordable transport for millions of people across the UK, while offering flexible work for drivers. Uber also helps connect people to public transport, reduce the need for private car ownership, and support the transition to electric vehicles.
Uber UK General Manager Andrew Brem said that Uber is proud of its role in the UK and is looking forward to the next decade of reimagining transport that is more reliable, convenient and sustainable. He added that since 2021, drivers have been able to access worker protections such as holiday pay and access to a pension.
