Meta Platforms Inc (NASDAQ:FB) announced a slew of new products and features at its Connect developer conference on Wednesday, including the Quest 3 mixed reality headset, Ray-Ban smart glasses and a series of AI chatbots.

The event, which was held in Menlo Park, California, showcased Meta’s vision for the future of social interaction and immersive entertainment.

Quest 3

Quest 3: The First Mainstream Mixed Reality Headset The Quest 3 is Meta’s latest and most advanced headset for mixed reality, which combines virtual and augmented reality. It is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 platform, which gives it twice the processing power of its predecessor, the Quest 2.

The headset also features improved optics, audio and ergonomics, as well as a new adaptive fit system that adjusts to different head shapes and sizes.

The Quest 3 will offer more than 100 new and upgraded games this year, including Xbox Cloud Gaming, which will join the Quest platform in December. This will allow users to play popular titles such as Halo Infinite and Minecraft Legends on the headset.

The Quest 3 will be available for $499 and start shipping on October 10. Meta is also releasing a $129 charging dock for the headset, which can charge the device and its controllers when not in use.

Ray-Ban Smart Glasses

Ray-Ban Smart Glasses: A Stylish Way To Stay Connected Meta also revealed its collaboration with Ray-Ban to create a line of smart glasses that look like regular sunglasses. The glasses are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 platform, which enables them to stream video, play music and access information.

The glasses have five microphones for clear calls and voice commands, as well as built-in Meta AI that can provide real-time information to users. For example, users can ask Meta AI to show them nearby restaurants, directions or weather updates.

The glasses also have two cameras that can capture photos and videos, which can be shared directly to Meta’s social media platforms or live streamed to viewers. Users can control the glasses with touch gestures or voice commands.

The glasses come in different styles and colors, and will be available for $299 starting from October 17.

Meta AI will use natural language processing and computer vision to understand user requests and generate relevant responses. Users will be able to customize their preferences and settings for Meta AI through a dedicated app.

Meta also announced Meta AI Studio, a platform for developers to create their own custom AI chatbots using Meta’s tools and resources. Developers will be able to design their own chatbot personalities, dialogues and images using Meta’s frameworks and APIs.

Meta also unveiled a new feature that will allow users to create their own AI stickers based on their prompts. Users will be able to type in any word or phrase and generate a sticker that matches their input. The feature will roll out to some English-language users over the next month.
