Apple may discontinue iPhone 13 Mini after Wonderlust Event

Posted on September 12, 2023September 12, 2023

Apple is set to unveil the iPhone 15 series at its Wonderlust event on September 12, along with other exciting devices such as the Apple Watch Series 9. However, this also means that some older models will be discontinued, including the iPhone 13 mini.

Apple may discontinue iPhone 13 Mini after Wonderlust Event

The iPhone 13 mini, which was launched last year as a small-screen option for iPhone fans, has reportedly seen low demand and stock. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman tweeted that the iPhone 13 mini inventory is running low and that Apple will stop selling it after the Wonderlust event.

Apple did not release an iPhone 14 mini this year, and there is no indication that an iPhone 15 mini will be announced either. This suggests that Apple is abandoning its mini line of iPhones after just two generations.

The only remaining small-screen iPhone will be the iPhone SE (2022), which has a 4.7-inch display and an outdated design and hardware. The iPhone SE features an A15 Bionic chip, which is two generations behind the latest A17 chip that powers the iPhone 15 series.

The iPhone SE is also not updated regularly by Apple. The first iPhone SE was released in 2016, followed by the second one in 2020. The third one is expected to launch in 2025, according to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

Some reports claim that the next iPhone SE will have a larger 6.1-inch display, which would make it similar to the current iPhone 14. This means that the small-screen iPhone experience could soon become extinct.

The iPhone 13 mini was not the only model that failed to impress consumers. The iPhone 14 Plus, which had a massive 6.68-inch screen, also did not sell well and will be discontinued after the Wonderlust event. Apple seems to have found the sweet spot with the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Pro, which have 6.1-inch and 6.4-inch screens respectively.

The upcoming iPhone 15 series is expected to have seven major design changes, according to tipster Apple Intro. These include a smaller notch, a faster refresh rate, a larger battery, a better camera system, a new color option, a stronger glass protection, and a MagSafe charger.

Apple fans are eagerly waiting for the Wonderlust event to see what Apple has in store for them. The event will be streamed live on Apple’s website and YouTube channel on September 12 at 10 a.m. PDT.
