Xiaomi to launch Mi Mix Fold 3 foldable smartphone on August 14

Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone maker, is set to unveil its latest foldable smartphone, the Mi Mix Fold 3, on August 14 in China. The company’s CEO, Lei Jun, confirmed the launch date and shared some official images of the device on Weibo, a social media platform formerly known as Twitter.

The Mi Mix Fold 3 will be the successor to the Mi Mix Fold 2, which was launched last year as Xiaomi’s first foldable phone. The new device will feature a similar design with a large inner screen that folds inwards and a smaller cover screen on the outside. However, the Mi Mix Fold 3 will also sport some significant upgrades, such as a Leica-branded quad camera system on the back, a periscope telephoto lens, and a punch-hole selfie camera on the inner screen.

According to a report by GizmoChina, the Mi Mix Fold 3 will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, which is Qualcomm’s next-generation flagship processor for mobile devices. The phone will also have a 4,800 mAh battery that supports fast 67W charging. The inner screen is expected to measure 8.01 inches with a resolution of 1860 x 2480 pixels, while the cover screen is expected to measure 6.52 inches with a resolution of 840 x 2520 pixels. Both screens will likely offer a refresh rate of up to 120Hz.

The Mi Mix Fold 3 will compete with other foldable phones in the market, such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, the Google Pixel Fold, and the Honor Magic V Fold. However, it is not clear whether Xiaomi will launch the Mi Mix Fold 3 globally or keep it exclusive to China. The company has not announced the pricing and availability details of the device yet.

The Mi Mix Fold 3 will be revealed during Lei Jun’s annual speech event, which will start at 7 pm Beijing time (11 am UTC) on August 14. Xiaomi is also expected to announce other products at the event, such as the Redmi K60 Ultra and the Mi Pad 6 Max.
