Han Moon Hee becomes new head of Korea Railroad Corporation

Korea Railroad Corporation (Korail), the national railway operator of South Korea, has appointed Mr Han Moon Hee as its new president and CEO. He succeeds Mr Hee Seung Na, who was dismissed in March following a fatal accident involving a Korail employee.

Han is a veteran of the railway sector, having worked for Korea National Railroad (KNR) and Korail for almost 40 years.

He has held various senior positions, such as vice-president of management planning, and has led major projects, such as the railway reform programme. He has also served as the head of Uiwang Inland Container Depot and Busan Transportation Corporation.

Han took office on July 24 and outlined his five management goals for Korail: safety, financial stability, customer satisfaction, core competency building and change management. He expressed his honour and commitment to lead Korail and make it a trustworthy railway operator.
