Realme C53 Launches with 108MP Camera and Odd RAM/Storage Options

Realme C53 Launched

Realme has launched its latest budget smartphone, the C53, along with the Pad 2 tablet today (July 19, 2023). The C53 comes in two colors, Champion Black and Champion Golden, and boasts a 108MP main camera as its main attraction. However, the phone also has some peculiar choices when it comes to RAM and storage.

The C53 has only two variants: one with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, and another with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. This means that the higher RAM option has less internal space, which might be an issue for some users. The phone does have a microSD card slot, but it also supports Dynamic RAM, which can allocate some of the storage as virtual memory.

The C53 has a 6.74-inch display with a 90Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 560 nits. However, instead of a punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera, it has a U-shaped notch that extends into a Mini Capsule – a software feature that shows some icons and notifications on either side of the notch.

Realme did not reveal which processor powers the C53, or which version of Android it runs on. The phone also has a 5000mAh battery with 18W fast charging, a fingerprint scanner on the back, and a quad rear camera setup with an 8MP ultra-wide lens, a 2MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. The C53 is priced at Rs. 12,999 (~$173) for the 4GB/128GB model and Rs. 13,999 (~$186) for the 6GB/64GB model. It will go on sale from July 23, 2023 on Realme’s website and Flipkart.
