Apple hikes iCloud+ prices in several countries

Apple has raised the prices of its iCloud+ monthly subscription in several countries around the world, including the UK, Brazil, South Africa and Colombia. The price hike ranges from 25% to 30% for different plans and regions.

iCloud+ is a paid service that offers extra cloud storage and security features to iCloud users. It has three plans: 50GB, 200GB and 2TB. Users can share the storage with up to five family members, but the limit is split across all users.

According to an updated support document, the new prices for the UK are £0.99 for the 50GB plan, £2.99 for the 200GB plan and £8.99 for the 2TB plan. Previously, these plans cost £0.79, £2.49 and £6.99 respectively.

Other countries that have seen similar price increases are Brazil, South Africa, Colombia and Peru. However, some markets have only seen changes in one or two plans. For example, in Peru, only the 2TB plan has gone up from S/.29.90 to S/.34.90.

Apple has not given an official reason for the price hike, but it is likely that it is due to changes in taxes and exchange rates. The company often adjusts the prices of its products and services based on these factors.

The iCloud+ subscription prices remain unchanged in many regions, such as the US, Canada and India. iCloud+ was launched in 2021 as an upgrade to iCloud, with features such as iCloud Private Relay, Hide My Email, custom email domain and HomeKit Secure Video.
