DX announces development of new regional hub in the East Midlands

LONDON, UK: Leading delivery solutions provider, DX, is thrilled to unveil its plans for the development of a significant new Regional Hub in the East Midlands.

The proposed hub, including a new depot to cater to the local area, is estimated to cost approximately £12 million and will be financed using DX’s existing cash resources. Detailed planning permission has already been obtained, and the site acquisition is expected to be finalized within the next two months.

Spanning a 4.5-acre redevelopment scheme near Nottingham at New Stanton Park Industrial Estate, the new hub will feature a 25,000 sq ft footprint dedicated to supporting DX’s parcel freight activities.

This strategic investment will provide substantial regional capacity enhancements and streamline operations by reducing stem mileage. Construction is slated for completion in the second quarter of 2024 and will incorporate raised dock and mechanization systems.

Additionally, the existing freight depot in Nottingham will be transformed into a dedicated 2-Man supersite as part of this development.

The decision to establish the new regional hub aligns with DX’s board strategy of investing in properties that facilitate the ongoing growth of the company’s operations.

This move is a vital aspect of DX’s capital allocation policy, with potential for further property investments in the future.

The investment in the East Midlands hub supplements DX’s existing three-year investment program, which ranges from £20-£25 million and is currently in its second year.

This program primarily focuses on expanding the company’s depot network, acquiring advanced handling equipment, and enhancing IT capabilities.

Expressing his enthusiasm about the project, Paul Ibbetson, Chief Executive Officer of DX (Group) plc, stated, “The purchase of this site in Nottingham will enable us to create a major new regional hub and depot for our parcel freight operations and is in line with our plans to make strategic property investments. The investment will increase our capacity, drive efficiency improvements, as well as enhance customer service. Further site openings and upgrades are planned as we continue to invest in developing the Group’s network in line with our growth plans.”

DX’s ambitious development plans and ongoing investments reflect its commitment to expanding its network and delivering exceptional service to its customers. With the construction of the new regional hub, DX is set to bolster its presence in the East Midlands and reinforce its position as a leading provider of delivery solutions in the region.
