Texel Air Australasia Launches as New Zealand's Newest Cargo Airline

Auckland, New Zealand: Texel Air, a Bahraini cargo airline, has expanded its operations into Australasia with the launch of Texel Air Australasia, a sister airline located at Auckland International Airport.

The official launch took place on Saturday, June 10, 2023, marking a significant milestone for New Zealand’s aviation industry.

The parent company, Texel Air Bahrain, is a well-established cargo airline and MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) based in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Founded by John Chisholm, Founder and Chairman of Texel Air, the airline has been serving the industry with its fleet of Boeing 737 freighter aircraft. Texel Air Bahrain currently operates two B737-700FC, two B737-800BCF, and one B737-300F aircraft from Bahrain International Airport.

Texel Air’s expansion into Australasia aims to meet the growing demand for efficient and reliable cargo transportation services in the region. The B737-800BCF, known as the industry benchmark aircraft for regional logistic operators, will play a vital role in facilitating seamless cargo operations.

Texel Air Australasia’s entry into the New Zealand market follows its successful operation of the B737-300F (A9C – APC) under contract to NZ Post/Parceline Express since April 3, 2023. This initial phase of operations served as preparation for the arrival of the B737-800 (MSN 29985) with registration ZK-TXE.

The launch of Texel Air Australasia expands the Texel Air group’s fleet to a total of six aircraft. With further aircraft on order for delivery to New Zealand throughout 2023, Texel Air is poised to strengthen its presence and offer enhanced cargo services in the region.

Texel Air’s New Zealand operations have been supported by a team of experienced flight crew and engineers from Bahrain, ensuring a seamless transition and adherence to the highest standards of safety and service.

The expansion of Texel Air into New Zealand’s aviation market marks an exciting development for the industry and highlights the airline’s commitment to providing efficient cargo transportation solutions to meet the evolving needs of businesses in the region.
