HyperPlay, a Delaware-based company that offers a Web3-native game launcher and aggregator of multiple game stores, has raised $12M in Series A funding co-led by Griffin Gaming Partners and BITKRAFT Ventures.
The company plans to use the new capital to scale its platform, enhance its flagship game launcher, and increase its international presence.
HyperPlay was launched in November 2020 as a joint collaboration between MetaMask, the self-custody Web3 wallet, and Game7, a DAO focused on building Web3 gaming infrastructure. The company was founded by JacobC.eth, a Web3 gaming enthusiast and developer.
HyperPlay provides a Web3 gaming platform that frees developers from centralized entities like Apple, Google and Steam. It has compatibility across MetaMask, WalletConnect unlocking over 40 different crypto wallet providers, and empowering users to bring their wallets, tokens and NFTs into every native or browser game.
The company claims that its platform has over 100,000 monthly active users and over 1,000 games from various genres and categories. HyperPlay also supports Web3 game development by providing tools, resources, and community for developers who want to create decentralized games.
Griffin Gaming Partners and BITKRAFT Ventures are both leading venture capital firms that focus on gaming and esports sectors. They were joined by ConsenSys, the parent company of MetaMask, and other investors such as Ethereal Ventures, Delphi, Game7, Mirana Ventures, Monoceros Ventures, and others in the Series A round.
“We are thrilled to partner with HyperPlay, which is at the forefront of the Web3 gaming revolution. We believe that HyperPlay’s platform will enable a new wave of innovation and creativity in the gaming industry, as well as empower gamers with more choice and ownership,” said Nick Tuosto, co-founder and managing director of Griffin Gaming Partners.
JacobC.eth, founder and CEO of HyperPlay, said: “We are grateful for the support from our investors, who share our vision of building a Web3 gaming platform that is open, decentralized, and user-centric. With this Series A funding, we will be able to scale our platform, fully enhance our flagship game launcher, and increase our international presence. We are also excited to welcome more developers and gamers to join our Web3 gaming community.”
