FD Technologies partners with AWS to launch cloud-native service for financial analytics

LONDON, UK: FD Technologies, a leading provider of data analytics and streaming solutions, has announced a new partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS), the world’s most comprehensive and broadly adopted cloud platform, to launch kdb Insights as a fully managed cloud-native service on Amazon FinSpace, AWS’s data management and analytics service for the financial services industry.

Kdb Insights is a high-performance data analytics platform that leverages KX’s Data Timehouse technology, which combines real-time and historical data analysis with streaming and machine learning capabilities. Kdb Insights enables customers to perform complex queries and calculations on massive volumes of market data at ultra-low latency, delivering faster insights and better decision making.

By launching kdb Insights as a fully managed service on Amazon FinSpace, FD Technologies and AWS aim to provide customers with a seamless and scalable way to migrate their kdb workloads to the cloud and benefit from the Python-enabled features that kdb Insights offers. Customers will also be able to access and analyze their data using Amazon FinSpace’s rich set of tools and services, such as data cataloging, data preparation, data visualization and collaboration.

The new service will be attractive to both existing and new customers of KX, FD Technologies’ operating brand. Existing customers will be able to easily move their kdb applications to the cloud and take advantage of the performance and cost efficiencies that KX is known for. New customers will be able to tap into the power of KX’s Data Timehouse technology within a data management system that is purpose-built for financial analytics and fully managed by AWS.

The service will also provide customers with enhanced security, stability and compliance, as AWS will handle the monitoring and incident management of the service around the clock. Customers will require a KX license to use the service, with pricing based on usage. In addition to its presence on Amazon FinSpace, kdb Insights is also available for use across all industries on the AWS Marketplace.

Several leading global investment banks are already evaluating using Amazon FinSpace with Managed kdb Insights as the foundation for their trading and quantitative research applications. By deploying it on Amazon FinSpace, they will be able to accelerate the migration of their KX applications to AWS while also modernizing their computing foundation to provide greater agility and performance, resulting in improved financial operational controls.

Saman Michael Far, VP of Financial Services Technology at AWS, said that the launch of Amazon FinSpace with Managed kdb Insights marks a turning point for capital markets customers, where moving their core market data analytics to the cloud will ensure their most critical analytics are available when needed and provide them with a virtually unlimited ability to experiment with their analysis and gain insights.

Ashok Reddy, CEO of FD Technologies, said that KX is trusted by the world’s top banks and hedge funds to manage billions of transactions and trillions of dollars every day. He said that the launch of Amazon FinSpace with Managed kdb Insights is a further collaboration between KX and a leading cloud hyperscale partner and is expected to support their future growth ambitions.
