Groupe SEB acquires Swiss culinary appliance company Pacojet

PARIS, FRANCE: Groupe SEB, a French multinational company specializing in small household appliances, has announced its acquisition of Pacojet, a Swiss family-owned company that specializes in developing and marketing a revolutionary culinary appliance.

Pacojet’s unique emulsifier has been a favorite of chefs for thirty years and has helped establish the company’s global reputation as a leader in the culinary industry.

Founded in 1992, Pacojet has developed a proprietary technology that allows chefs to create ice creams, sorbets, sauces, mousses, fillings, purées, and much more in less than 90 seconds.

This groundbreaking appliance has been a driving force behind the company’s success, and the process of using the Pacojet to process frozen food into ultra-smooth textures has become known as “pacotizing” or pacossage®, a registered trademark referencing the unique process associated with the Pacojet.

With the acquisition of Pacojet, Groupe SEB’s professional activity will be enriched by a complementary offer of an iconic brand and products that meet the strong development ambitions in this segment.

Thierry de La Tour d’Artaise, Chairman of Groupe SEB, expressed his excitement about the acquisition, stating, “We are delighted with the acquisition of Pacojet, which will enable Groupe SEB to continue to accelerate in the professional segment, a strategic market that is growing rapidly and profitably.

Pacojet’s products complement our existing professional offer and enjoy an unrivaled reputation. They contribute to creating a true ecosystem for our customers. We look forward to welcoming the Pacojet team and pursuing our ambition in the professional sector together.”

Groupe SEB’s professional business sales amounted to €725 million in 2022, representing an increase of 15.6%, including 9.2% organic growth, confirming solid sales momentum. The professional business accounted for 10% of Groupe SEB’s total sales.

The professional coffee activity accounted for 90% of segment sales, including automatic and traditional espresso machines, as well as professional filter coffee preparation. Beyond professional coffee, the Group is also present in the hotel sector with an offer of professional crepe makers, waffle makers, and planchas via its subsidiary Krampouz, which it acquired in 2019.

More recently, the Group expanded its offerings to include professional juice extraction machines through its subsidiary Zummo, which it acquired in 2022.

In summary, Groupe SEB’s acquisition of Pacojet demonstrates its continued commitment to the professional market and its ambition to become a major player in the culinary industry. With Pacojet’s innovative technology and reputation for excellence, Groupe SEB is well-positioned to offer an expanded range of products to its professional customers, creating a true ecosystem that meets the evolving needs of the industry.
