Southern Cross Media Group Limited (ASX: SXL) (SCA) has announced that its current CEO and Managing Director, Grant Blackley, will step down on June 30, 2023. The current Chief Operating Officer, John Kelly, has been appointed to succeed him, effective July 1, 2023.
Mr. Blackley will spend the next two months providing a comprehensive transition to Mr. Kelly. Additionally, Mr. Blackley has agreed to extend his contractual post-employment restraint period from six months to nine months.
Under Mr. Blackley’s leadership, SCA has become a national media business, including the expansion of market-leading radio brands Triple M and Hit around the country, the acquisition of the Redwave stations in Western Australia, and the establishment of national management structures and reporting lines.
Mr. Kelly, who has extensive strategic, operational, and financial leadership experience, has been pivotal in leading the digital transformation of SCA’s business model to position the company for future growth.
In response to his appointment, Mr. Kelly said, “SCA has unparalleled national reach supported by market-leading research and insights and a team of creative and passionate people focused on delivering sustainable value to our advertisers, audiences, communities, and shareholders.”
During the transitional period, Mr. Kelly and the Board will review the structure of the group’s executive team and reporting lines. At this stage, the group has no plans to appoint a new Chief Operating Officer.
