Samsung, one of the leading manufacturers in the smartphone industry, is gearing up to launch its latest line of foldable devices, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5.
The market for foldable devices has become increasingly competitive in recent years, with companies such as Huawei, Motorola, and Xiaomi all releasing their own versions of foldable smartphones.
Samsung, which first introduced the Galaxy Fold in 2019, has been leading the pack, and their latest foldable devices are expected to raise the bar even higher.
One of the most significant changes in the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 is the larger cover display. The cover display now takes on a folder-like shape, which nearly covers the entire body of the phone, leaving a small space for the dual cameras on the back.
This is a significant upgrade from the previous model, the Galaxy Z Flip 4, which only showed basic information on the cover display.
With the larger cover display, Samsung is expected to introduce more features, much like the Oppo Find N2 Flip. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 is reported to feature a 6.7-inch foldable AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and Full HD+ resolution.
The phone may be powered by either a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 or Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 SoC, although it’s not entirely clear which one Samsung will ultimately use.
Another notable change in the Galaxy Z Flip 5 is the camera system. It is rumored that the phone will come with the same set of cameras as its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Flip 4, which includes a pair of 12MP primary and ultra-wide cameras.
The front camera is expected to remain the same, with a 10MP resolution. Additionally, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 could use the same battery and charging as its predecessor, a 3,700mAh battery with 25W wired and 15W wireless charging.
In terms of the phone’s dimensions, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 is expected to measure 165 x 71.8 x 6.7 mm when unfolded, which is similar to the Galaxy Z Flip 4. However, the cover display has been significantly upgraded to a 3.4-inch size with a new folder-like shape.
The Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 are also rumored to come with a new teardrop-style hinge design that eliminates the gap between the displays when closed, reducing the amount of crease compared to previous models.
This new hinge design is expected to give the devices a sleeker look and a more seamless feel when using them.
While the Galaxy Z Flip 5 is expected to have some impressive features, it’s not entirely clear which chipset Samsung will use. Some reports suggest that Samsung could use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy, which is the same chipset used in the Galaxy S23 series.
However, it’s also possible that Samsung could use the newer Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 SoC, which has not yet been officially launched by Qualcomm.
In conclusion, Samsung is gearing up to release its next generation of foldable devices, and the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 is expected to be one of the most exciting phones in the lineup. The larger cover display, upgraded camera system, and new hinge design are all expected to be significant improvements over the Galaxy Z Flip 4.
The device’s dimensions, including its 6.7-inch foldable AMOLED panel and its teardrop-style hinge, are sure to make it one of the most visually stunning foldable devices on the market. While we still have to wait for the official launch to learn all the details, Samsung fans can expect an impressive phone that will likely set the bar high for foldable.
